The Twin Groves Scholastic Bowl team is open to all interested 6th, 7th, or 8th graders. The best participants for a Scholastic
Bowl Team are those students who are particularly knowledgeable about facts in varied subject areas. Scholastic bowl team
members should be students who are quick thinkers and who are willing to risk buzzing in to give an answer, even in the heat
of competition.
Scholastic Bowl Team members participate in academic competitions by answering prepared questions or doing problem solving
within the core subject areas.
You will normally have to attend two practices a week, beginning two months prior to the first competition. Meets are
scheduled after school, usually two per week during the months of March and April. Meets last approximately 45 minutes to
1 hour. Subjects covered by the questions are: Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts, Fine Arts, Vocational
Education, and General Information. It is not necessary to be knowledgeable in all these areas, but you must be willing to
expand your knowledge base, as well as to rely on your teammates for support and backup.
If you are ready to become a part of our team, let Mrs. Drew know as soon as possible. If you or your parents have any
questions prior to our first informational meeting, you can contact me in Room 108.
